One of the grandest annual IT and consumer electronics retail expo in Dubai this year promises to be more in-tune with the times. The visitors at 2011 Gitex Shopper will be able to instantly share their experiences at the expo with their online friends and relatives courtesy a cutting-edge social marketing campaign based on the RFID Key Fobs to be deployed at the expo by AVI Infosys LLC

Informing about the project with HP (Middle East), Arvind Mehta, Head of Technology Solutions Group of AVI Infosys said, "It's an honour to associate with brands like Gitex Shopper and HP. We have been working on, and providing, RFID based electronic solutions to clients across the Middle East and Africa for years. However, getting to work on a technologically upscale social marketing campaign at a global platform, like Gitex Shopper, will be a first. It will surely be a challenge that our engineers and technicians will relish. And of course, the Facebook savvy visitors will have a reason to cheer as they will be able to share their offline experiences with their online friends through our RFID Key Fobs and will get chance to win exciting products from HP Middle East."


Arvind explained at length how the system will actually work. "The system involves innovation in that it offers real time social sharing experiences. For instance, at Gitex Shopper, millions of people like HP products through an RFID Facebook card. We will place specially designed Facebook "Like" RFID readers. The visitors will simply need to hold their HP keyfobs in front of these designated readers, which will initiate a connection to their Facebook profile, and the online product of the choice which they "LIKE" will be shared on their Facebook Wall."

Asked about the availability of RFID Facebook Tags, Arvind informed that the keyfobs will be given free of cost to the visitors at the HP Registration counters. "With this keyfobs, they will be able to get these keyfobs activated in the Reception and will be connected in to their Facebook profile. And since the keyfob will hold an RFID microchip, which will store their encrypted Facebook unique numeric profile details, it'll automatically become their Facebook Connect card."

Gitex Shopper 2011 will be held from October 8 - 15, 2011 at Airport Expo Dubai.
